Dunstable Fire Station
Dunstable Community Fire Station was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne in January 2009.
The station is crewed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by four watches; Red, Green, Blue and White. Each watch consists of 10 Firefighters, two crew commanders and one watch commander who work a 24 hour on, 72 hour off system.
The station has two fire appliances which respond to a range of incidents from fires, road traffic collisions to chemical incidents and a Specialist Rescue Unit which responds to complex patient and rope rescue incidents.
The station provides a first class operational facility and a community facility for the people of Dunstable and surrounding area.
Its operational facilities include a bay area for three fire appliances, training room, study area, offices, gym, locker room and canteen/kitchen. A three storey smoke house outside provides a modern onsite training facility for the crews to practice responding to different incidents.
Upstairs, the station has community meeting room facilities available to hire for meetings, conferences, training courses and much more. It is also the base for St John’s first aid courses. There is a community car park adjacent to the community entrance providing ample parking.
