Domestic building fire

At 8.44am on Sunday (26) crews were called to a fire in a three-storey property in Hitchin Road, Luton.  

When the first crews arrived, they were met with a fire that had destroyed the third floor which was a converted loft space.  

At its height three crews from Luton and Stopsley, who were wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the fire from an aerial platform using hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.  

One female resident was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

An adjacent property was checked for fire spread.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
