Fire in the open

At 3.25am on Monday (10) the fire service was called to a fire at a recycling centre in 1 Covent Garden Close, Luton.  

Crews from Luton and Dunstable arrived to a significant fire involving two lorries, two containers, two trailer and a lorry tractor unit. There were also multiple electric waste spillages which the crews had to tackle.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels and jets and hydraulic spreaders to extinguish a fire. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hotspots. There were no casualties.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
