Vehicle fire

At 9.49am on Wednesday (12) two crews from Dunstable and a crew from Luton were called to waste on fire in a 20-tonne vehicle on the M1 Northbound Junction 11 - Junction 11a.

The waste was tipped onto the carriageway, and it was determined that about 30% of it was on fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a two hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire with water from a water carrier from Toddington.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
