The fire spread from the garage to the roof of the property. Both the garage and roof were 100% destroyed by fire. All persons were accounted for.
The incident was sectorised, and utilities could not be isolated at the scene. Cadent and UK Power Networks attended to isolate services within the carriageway.
Police and ambulance services were in attendance. Five members of the public were temporarily re-housed by Luton Borough Council. A full road closure was implemented by police and maintained by highways.
Firefighters with breathing apparatus, used four hose reel jets, four main jets, thermal imaging cameras and two aerial platform monitors.
A fire investigation determined that it was an accidental fire.
