Listed below are the essential experience, personal qualities and attributes considered necessary to carry out the duties of the post of Crew Commander (WDS/RDS as applicable). Hold a substantive appointment as a competent Firefighter in a UK Fire Authority, having attained competence in all units of the role of Firefighter on a Wholetime Duty System (internal/external applicants) Be a substantive and competent Firefighter, having attained competence in all units of the role of Crew Commander on a Retained Duty System (internal applicants only) (Internal applicants must be deemed ready for progression at last appraisal.
