Qualifications and Experience Required
Listed below is the essential experience, personal qualities and attributes considered necessary to carry out the duties of the post of Station Commander (WDS and RDS, as applicable). These are the criteria against which suitability for the post will be assessed. You must clearly show relevant examples in your supporting statement on your application form of the ways in which you meet each of the essential criteria for the relevant post.
If you do not adequately address each and every one of the criteria for the relevant post required, it may not be possible to shortlist you.

Hold a substantive appointment in a UK Fire and Rescue Service as - Substantive Watch Manager having attained competence in all Units of the Role of WM on a Wholetime Duty System (external applicants); or - Substantive Watch Manager having attained competence in all Units of the Role of WM on a Wholetime or Retained Duty System (internal applicants) Current or recent Temporary Watch Manager, having attained competence in all Units of the Role of WM on a Wholetime or Retained Duty System, holding a valid pass at WM gateway and IFE L3D5 and L3D6 (internal applicants) (Internal applicants should be deemed 'ready for progression' at last appraisal) |
