These incidents include assisting other agencies, animal rescues, flooding/water rescues, persons locked out, chemical incidents
- The volume of incidents involving a firefighter making forcible entry into homes to allow ambulance crews to reach patients is stable at around 180 incidents per year
- Co-responding (which restarted in 2020) continued with 88 incidents attended in 2022-23. Previous evaluations have shown the community benefit of co-responding both in terms of reducing response times and improving patient outcomes
- A Falls Response Team pilot began in January 2020 with around eight incidents per month attended in 2020-21. The trial has been evaluated and has been successful in meeting its aims
- Technical rescues assisting ambulance service (including bariatric) shows a steady number of incidents, with 79 incidents attended in 2022-23
- Revised call handling policy introduced in 2017 has reduced attendances to persons stuck in lifts incidents and numbers remain broadly static at a five-year average of 74
- Effecting entry/exit incidents (including to persons locked in/out) show signs of a small increase over the five year reporting period
- The number of animal rescues remains static with an average of 50 incidents attended per year
- The number of hazardous materials incidents attended is slowly increasing with an average of around 42 incidents per year
- An average of 134 flooding incidents per year have been attended over the five-year period. 2022-23 saw 192 flooding incidents attended, higher than the previous record in 2020-21 when 163 flooding incidents were attended following a significant flooding event in December 2020 in Bedford Borough
- An average of 14 water rescue incidents are attended per year. Great Ouse Bedford town centre is a hotspot
